It’s nice to see Saab have weathered the latest recession storm and are still providing quality vehicles that are safe, comfortable, stylish and quick. At the showroom, you’ll see that Saab are offering the latest, elegant 93 range. There are a couple of notable new features for the face-lifted Saab 93. A tweaked interior provides sumptuous comfort, high-end features and a near perfect driving position with excellent ergonomics. There is also a new twin-stage turbo-diesel that accelerates cleanly and performs effortlessly. And you can’t argue with the premium safety features that have earned the 93 a top ANCAP safety result.I want to draw your attention to the Saab 93 models that provide an electronic slip differential, and/or AWD traction. The models boasting AWD are very capable handlers and sit nicely on the road. That’s not to say that the FWD 93s are whimpy. Quite the opposite, they can be hussled along nicely, as well.

The 93 offers a wagon, sedan and convertible model with a number of engine alternatives. The Saab 93 is a vehicle with loads of style, performance and comfort. Saab vehicles are designed by an aircraft manufacturer and they show this with superbly built interiors boasting class leading ergonomics and simplistic functionality.World renowned, the Saab 93 is one vehicle you can seriously consider as a driving enthusiast's car. Super sporty and very grippy on the road, the 93 kicks off the charge with the standard 2.0 litre low-pressure turbo Linear. Always willing to perform, the 129 kw, 265 Nm engine is linked to a slick shifting six-speed manual gearbox, and responds right from the word go. Mid-eights for performing the 0-100 km/h dash would be an excellent result for any high-class Saab 9-3 competitor! A 1.9 litre turbo diesel is a refined alternative for the 9-3 range. The 5.8 litres/100 km fuel consumption is very good in any given situation - remembering that this is an average fuel consumption figure too. A total of around 11 engines are offered by Saab Australia. Three superb gearbox options astound with their smooth and slick operation. A 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox is available for those who still enjoy the thrill of running the engine power through the gears - when they choose, of course. The other tranny is a fantastic 6-speed Sentronic automatic transmission with an inbuilt manual mode. The Sentronic gearbox allows you to shift manually through the gears or with switches on the steering wheel. Simply sensational.

The newest 93 addition requires a paragraph for itself. Saab is GM’s centre of expertise for turbocharging and clever four-wheel-drive systems. Saab therefore has its own Swedish design centre again. The new Saab 93 Turbo X comes only in metallic black, like the high performance Saabs of old, and it also features a turbocharger boost gauge just like the original 900 Turbos. The Turbo X has an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) at the back, which, as well as transferring torque to the rear wheel with more grip, can also influence cornering lines by increasing or reducing torque to the outside rear wheel. This is just like the E-diff of a Ferrari F430. As you possibly might make out already, this one is quick! Saab has mounted its most powerful production engine to date underneath the bonnet. It is a 206 kW, 400 Nm version of its 2.8-litre, twin-scroll-turbo V6. The gearbox is a six-speed manual, and 5.7 seconds is all it takes to move the suave Swedish machine from a standstill to 100 kmh. Electronics kick in at 250 km/h to prevent the car from further embarrassing other sports cars that are less restricted.

All Saabs are enjoyable to drive. They offer lusty acceleration whenever the driver demands it. In some cases, the acceleration can be genuine push-you-back-into-your-seat velocity! The 6.7 second 0-100 km/h dash that the 2.8 litre petrol Aero-version boasts is proof of this. Take my word for it; jump into a Saab 9-3 today and be ready for an exhilarating drive. The handling of a 9-3 is very swift and controlled. Features like Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control come as standard items. A sport-tuned chassis is also available. Saab also offers a two-day driving course at their Aero Academy. The interior of a Saab 93 contains all the goodies like Scandinavian Leather seats that are extremely supportive and comfortable. Saab seats are known for being right up there with the best of them if not the best -when it comes to comfort. The electric front seats can come heated, 8-way adjustable and boast a memory functon. Dual climate zones also provide the utmost in setting the comfort tone throughout the interior. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes to just the right position for almost all drivers. There are premium sound sytems, and even a cooled glove box.
