In the year 1889 Armand Peugeot and Leon Serpollet built a small number of steam-engine vehicles. One year later, a prototype of the Peugeot Type 2, with an engine licensed from Daimler, was released. In 1925 Peugeot bought Bellanger manufactory, in 1927 the firm named DeDion Bouton, in 1950 - Chenard Walcker, in 1976 - Citroën and finally established the PSA Group - the biggest car producer in France. In 1978, PSA Groupe bought all Chrysler's manufacturing plants in Spain, Great Britain and France (previously Simca) and reactivated the Talbot make (1979 - 87). Now Peugeot is built in: France, Spain (since 1977), Great Britain (since 1985), Italy (1997 - 2004), Portugal and the Czech Republic (since 2005), Argentina (since 1960), Brazil (2001), Iran (since 1990 Iran Khodro Peugeot 405 and 206), China (1986 - 98 Guangzhou Peugeot, since 2004 Dongfeng Peugeot), Egypt (since 1994), Nigeria (since 1963) and assembled in Morocco (since 1980), Turkey (since 1997 Karsan Peugeot Partner), Kenya, Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Thailand.Paris 2002 - 307CC, 206RC, restyled Partner and also concept cars: Sesame, H2O and 607 Pescarolo; Birmingham 2002 - 206 GTI 180; Geneva 2003 - concept car Buggy Hoggar and 807 Grand Tourismo; Frankfurt/Main 2003 - 307 WRC, concept cars: 407 Coupe Elixir and 4002 Coupe; Geneva 2004 - 407, 407SW, 307 Sedan (produced in China) and concept car 407 Silhouette; Paris 2004 - 1007, restyled 607, prototype of 1007RC and two concept cars: 907 Coupe and Quark; Geneva 2005 - 407 Coupe Prologue, 107 (produced in the Czech Republic). In 2000 the production of the 306 was ended, in 2002 of the 306 sedan / station wagon / cabrio, in 2003 - of the 106 and finally in 2004 of the 406 sedan and station wagon as well as 406 Coupe. Plans for the future: 2005 - 207, 307 face lifted; 2006 - 608 limousine, 207CC Cabrio and SUV; 2008 - 308. In 2003 1,725,469 vehicles were built in sixteen countries (including Chile) under the Peugeot mark (without the Iran Khodro Peugeot). The PSA consortium has so far produced 3,108,192 passenger vehicles and trucks in 17 countries all over the world, excluding Iran Khodro Peugeot and SAIPA Citroen of Iran.
