The racing variant of the 6 series model, given the M6 mark, had its premiere in Geneva in 2005. The vehicle was provided with a power train known from the M5 model. It comprises a 5.0-liter 507 hp V10 engine, an automated, 7-speed gearbox, and a differential with an automatic system of internal friction adjustment. The M6 models feature electronic support systems, including the Dynamic Stability Control DSC and the Electronic Damper Control EDC. In order to reduce the weight, in numerous design elements traditional materials have been replaced with aluminum or carbon fibre, for instance, in the roof of the vehicle. The M6 model, despite its being an exclusive and expensive vehicle, does not differ much from the standard 6 series models.
